Fish Stocking Report Now Available With Daily Updates

The fish stocking report now features daily updates from hatchery staff where all events are posted within a day or two of stocking. Instead of hearing when and where the hatcheries have stocked well after the season has ended, anglers are now able to easily locate freshly stocked waters.

Waters are grouped by county, listed by town, and include the date of stocking as well as the species, quantity, and size of fish released.

Second Marks Lake	Marshfield	Washington	Brook Trout	2013	This water has consistently exhibited poor returns to anglers for stocked brook trout and consequently the stocking has been terminated.
Moosehorn Stream	Bucksport	Hancock	Brook Trout	2012	This water has exhibited poor returns to anglers from stocked brook trout and consequently the stocking has been terminated.
Carr Pond	T13 R8 WELS	Aroostook	Togue (lake Trout)	2012	Management will focus on growing larger-than-average size wild salmon. Maintaining high smelt (forage) abundance is critical for maintaining high salmon growth rates and body condition. Togue are heavy smelt predators and stocking them in this very small lake (307 acres) has been shown to be incompatible with the salmon objective.
Lower Springy Pond	Otis	Hancock	Landlocked salmon	2012	Spring yearling salmon stocking program will be discontinued due to poor performance and low angler returns. Large fall yearling brook trout will replace spring yearling salmon, and large retired salmon brood fish will be stocked periodically to provide angling diversity.
Highland Lake	Falmouth/Windham/Westbrook	Cumberland	Landlocked Salmon and Brown trout	2012	Dissimilar public access between those who reside on the lake and utilize private boat launches to launch large motorized watercraft, and those who visit the lake and are restricted to car top access. Inequitable access accommodations preclude continued stocking and management under MDIFW stocking and access policy.
Torsey Lake Outlet	Readfield	Kennebec	Brook trout	2011	Cancelled due to low use and inadequate conditions for trout survival
Salmon Falls River	South Berwick	York	Brook trout and Brown trout	2011	Brook Trout and Brown Trout stocking will be phased out by 2014. Recent review of available angling information revealed poor returns of fall yearling stocked trout and no holdovers. This was a relatively expensive experimental stocking program that appears to support low angler use and low returns of stocked trout.
Moosehorn Stream	Bucksport	Hancock	Brook Trout	2011	Located at Route 46 crossing, stocking at this site is being discontinued due to the lack of use and returns to the anglers, due largely to the loss of public access to the stream.
Cider Mill Pond	North Berwick	York	Brook Trout	2011	Reported low use and poor angler returns; suspected heavy predation by pickerel.
Nonesuch River	Scarborough	York	Brook Trout & Brown Trout	2011	Stocking at the Broad Turn Road crossing is cancelled due to loss of public access (property posting). Other sites on the river continue to be stocked.
South River	Parsonsfield	York	Brook Trout	2011	Cancelled 1 of 2 stocking sites due to a border barricade and lack of vehicle access. The other site was last stocked in the spring of '09.
Hancock Brook	Hiram	Oxford	Brook Trout	2011	Cancelled 1 (Wards Road) of 2 stocking sites due to property posting (no public access) in the spring of '09. This site was removed from future allocations.

Scopan Stream	Masardis	Aroostook	Landlocked salmon	2013	New program that underwent IFW peer review. Coupled with a pending fishing rule proposal, large fall yearling salmon will be stocked to create a fall/winter riverine fishing opportunity in northern Maine, where none currently exists.
Goose River	Camden	Knox	Brown trout	2013	Diversify fishing opportunity in a heavily fished section of Knox County.
Pemaquid River	Bristol	Lincoln	Brown Trout	2013	Diversify fishing opportunity in a heavily fished section of Lincoln County.
Lower Springy Pond	Otis	Hancock	Brook trout	2012	Large fall yearling brook trout will replace spring yearling salmon to enhance fishery performance and increase returns to anglers.
Norse Pond	Cutler	Washington	Brook Trout	2012	New Program that underwent IFW peer review. Purpose is to create a new, hike-in brook trout fishing opportunity in a section of Washington County where few presently exist.
Pleasant River	Columbia	Washington	Brook Trout	2012	At Artie's Bridge off the Tibbettstown Road, The Pleasant River Fish & Game Club is requesting to resume the spring stocking of brook trout into the Pleasant River for their "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" kids only fishing derby to be held on May 19th. This event was last held in the spring of 2005 and was a huge success for area children.
Shin Pond (Upper)	Mount Chase	Penobscot	Landlocked Salmon	2012	Wild salmon population was decimated by an illegal smallmouth bass introduction in early 1990's. Interest in a salmon stocking program has grown in recent years, and we would like to provide additional opportunity for cold-water angling in this geographic area. This stocking program is being initiated based on angler requests and comments. This proposal has undergone IF&W peer review.
Bog Lake	Northfield	Washington	Landlocked salmon	2011	Public access was restored, allowing resumption of a salmon stocking program.
Indian Pond	Lexington	Somerset	Brook Trout	2011	New program that underwent IFW peer review. Purpose is to create an ice fishing opportunity for brook trout in close proximity to the Town of Kingfield.
Little (Horseshoe) Pond	Franklin	Hancock	Brook Trout	2011	This proposal has undergone IF&W peer review. This stocking program is being initiated to create a trophy brook trout fishery in a remote pond. An earlier effort to stock wild trout collected from the outlet stream failed. Occasional stockings of wild-strain hatchery trout will now be used to support this fishery.
Coffee Pond	Casco	Cumberland	Splake	2011	Reinitiate a splake stocking program in an attempt to provide further angler opportunity at Coffee Pond after the brook trout stocking program was cancelled due to poor results. This proposal has undergone IF&W peer review.
Upper Lead Mountain Pond	T28MD	Hancock	Landlocked salmon	2011	Reinitiate a landlocked salmon program in an attempt to provide further angler opportunity at Upper Lead Mountain Pond. This stocking program is being initiated based on angler comments and feedback. This proposal has undergone IF&W peer review.
