Working with the City of Portland, the YardScaping Partnership selected two and a half acres along the Back Cove's walking trail for the project. The site showcases appropriate plantings in urban to rural settings in a beautiful, homeowner-doable way, plus serves as a model for municipalities across the state.

While partially funded by a $35,000 Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Grant
from the US Environmental Protection Agency and a $10,000 grant from the Davis Conservation Foundation, there were many significant donations of labor and materials. List of donors/volunteers and plant/material sources [PDF].
The gardens may be complete, but the work, as any gardener knows, will never end! Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated. Signup form for weeding, mulching, watering, and pruning for the upcoming 2013 season.
