EGovernment Award Presentation & Event - January 27, 2005

The Chief Information Officer and InforME Board sponsored an eGovernment celebration to highlight the state's recent achievements. As part of the event, Cathilea Robinett from the Center for Digital Government presented the first place award for its annual Best of the Web competition to Governor Baldacci. Robinett praised Maine.gov for its innovative eDemocracy and Local Government sections, its numerous online services, and ease of use. She also noted the high usage rates for Maine.gov online services, reflecting the number of people who choose to conduct transactions online rather than by traditional means. In addition, Ms. Robinett presented the Center's highest award, the Lifetime Achievement Award in digital government, to former Secretary of State Dan Gwadosky, Chair of the InforME Board. Showcase tables and live demonstrations featured Maine.gov highlights, including online cross-jurisdictional services, municipal services, motor vehicle services, public safety services, business services, and sporting services.
