The Maine Land Use Planning Commission is preparing to review and likely to revise parts of its rules governing residential subdivision development. The Commission would like to gather advice and suggestions from individual stakeholders, businesses and other organizations familiar with the development process in the LUPC service area. In April of 2014, the Commission distributed survey questions to interested stakeholders requesting input on how best to revise certain aspects of its subdivision rules, and received a number of responses. Currently, thanks to funding provided by the Sewall Foundation, the Commission is in the process of requesting quotes from and retaining the services of a professional facilitator to lead the next steps in the stakeholder process. Once the facilitator is on board, the Commission plans to hold a series of three meetings to have stakeholder-driven discussions of its subdivision rules, and related issues and ideas.
