Yearly cumulative savings and reductions in environmental impact for all 84 businesses participating in the program (July, 2008) are:

 

12,803,045 gallons of water through low flow water fixtures and for having a towel and/or linen re-use program:

5,866,167 kilowatts reduced just with energy efficiency initiatives

$589,846 saved in electricity reduction initiatives (efficient lighting and appliances)

8,498,302 pounds of Green House Gas emissions from lighting with CFLs.

360 amount of cars that could be taken off the road due to efficient lighting by the certified businesses

1,011,596 pounds of solid waste by composting food waste

1,078,137 pounds of solid waste by recycling

271,560 bottles reduced by installing refillable amenity dispensers from

28 of the certified businesses eliminating

16,294 pounds of plastic. This figure is from using a conservative 2 bottles per room estimate.

50 businesses have switched to using environmentally preferable cleaning chemicals resulting in

8,386 pounds of cleaning chemicals that would be considered toxic or hazardous

Average savings for energy efficiency and waste reduction per business is over $7,000 per year!

 

For 10 businesses that have re-certified after their initial 2 year certification, these are some of the additional estimated yearly reductions:

233,301 gallons of water through low flow water fixtures and for having a towel and/or linen re-use program:

167,276 kilowatts reduced just with energy efficiency initiatives

$15,028 saved in electricity reduction initiatives (efficient lighting and appliances)

239,497 pounds of Green House Gas emissions from lighting with CFLs.
