Maine Oil Spill Advisory Committee
This committee was established by the Legislature to advise the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection with regard to specific policies and duties arranged by the Legislature as stated in 38 MRSA Section 551-A. Members of the committee are charged many duties, some of which include reviewing the implementation of and regulations related to the Federal Oil Pollution Act of 1990, reviewing the State of Maine Oil Spill Contingency Plan and adequacy of the federal Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund, monitoring the effects of the State’s oil spill liability laws, and reviewing expenditures and the priority for expenditures of the Maine Coastal and Inland Surface Oil Clean-up Fund.
