- Instruction Manual for Baseline Water Quality Sampling (pdf). This is the baseline water quality monitoring guide for lakes. It is written for volunteer monitors and others seeking detailed, step-by-step instructions on the routine monitoring and sample handling techniques currently in use by Maine DEP. Certain procedures such as biological monitoring (e.g. zooplankton tows, phytoplankton sampling) or collection of bottom sediments are not covered).
- Standard Field Methods for Lake Water Quality Monitoring. This is a description of field monitoring techniques which can be used in conjunction with the Baseline manual to design and carry out lake sampling.
