Riverview Reaches Milestone - No Mechanical Restraint
Oliver Wendell Holmes:
Consciously or unconsciously we all strive to make the kind of a world we like.
Just a note to share our data on our efforts to become coercion free. For the first time ever recorded, the state hospital here in Augusta, formerly known as the Augusta Mental Health Institute and now our Riverview Psychiatric Center has recorded a month of no mechanical restraint use! This is a great accomplishment due to all efforts. I want to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, Mental Health Workers, Continuity of Care Managers, Rehabilitation Staff, Psychologists, Peer Specialists, NAPPI Oversight Committee, Staff Development, The Risk Manager, each of the Program Service Directors and all of you that support the care of those we serve. Good Job! Your efforts to address client needs, establish and maintain therapeutic alliances, assume some risks, and continuously strive to do what we do better and better is inspiring.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. -
Martin Luther King, Jr.
