Green Crab Workshop for Municipalities, March 28, 2014

The Department of Marine Resources Bureau of Public Health will be holding a “how-to” workshop on March 28th in Hallowell for municipalities who are interested in reducing green crab populations this summer. Speakers will include several individuals who have implemented trapping, fencing and netting projects in 2013. They will address costs of materials, labor needs and effectiveness. DMR staff will also be present to discuss disposal options, trap modifications and permitting. The workshop is targeted toward municipal shellfish program representatives (selectmen, shellfish committee members, harvesters etc.) and registration is required. Please register by emailing Michelle Mason Webber at Michelle.Mason@maine.gov.

The workshop will be held at the Hallowell Annex at the Natural Resource Service Center building in Room 106. To get to the conference room, visitors will have to use the back door at the loading dock. The workshop will run from 10 am to 2pm and we suggest people bring a brown bag lunch.
