Figure 22. This jog in the diabase dike is a place where the walls did not open cleanly. The fracture along the right edge of the dike continued straight upward for only a short distance and then stopped for some reason, and another fracture to its left opened instead and continued upward. The thin layer of metamorphic rock in the granite probably caused the interruption. Last updated on August 18, 2010 |
