The USGS has modified the Parshall measuring flume (Figure 5) for greater ease of use and field carry by eliminating the downstream diverging section. Since this modification is primarily applied to the Parshall flume with 3-inch throat, the flume is known as the USGS Three-inch Modified Parshall flume.
