Coastal Places, Processes, and Partnerships:

Balancing values and expectations on Maine's beaches

Concurrent I

Introduction to Invertebrates in the Intertidal

  • Bob Siegel, Professor, Southern Maine Community College

SMCC Professor Bob Siegel will introduce several of the more common invertebrate animals one may find in the intertidal zone in Maine. Because the high tide prevents us from observing them in their habitat, participants will examine in the lab specimens collected earlier this week. The importance of invertebrates to the ecology of beaches will be addressed.
