Figure 10. The central and southern section of Willard Beach in 1986. The bathhouse facility next to the traffic circle is partially surrounded by dune vegetation. Small dunes are growing seaward to the north of the bathhouse quite far out onto the berm and probably in a place they would have existed if foot traffic and other uses had been limited in previous decades. The dry beach (white sand) at the southern end of the beach near Deake Street is absent, suggesting that the high tide reaches the seawall. (Photo courtesy of L. K.
