Figure 6. A detailed view of Figure 5 at the northeastern end of the beach near Myrtle and Beach Streets in 1956. Note the irregular appearance of the seaward dune edge in front of the houses and end of the streets. Some of the irregular dunes are due to human activity and some are due to storm erosion. At the upper right corner of the photo the dunes appear less disturbed. This trend appears also in Figure 5 along what is now the SMCC campus. (1956 photo No. PWN-2-3 courtesy of L. K.
