Figure 6. Waves at the Casco Bay buoy (No. 44007) off Portland recorded waves as high as 28 feet during the onset of a large storm on February 25-26, 2010. Waves, and thus surf at Popham Beach remained elevated into March. Significant wave height is the average of the one-third highest waves recorded over a period of 20 minutes.
