Figure 18. Ground view of potential breach site and recent spit lowering. Photo taken at 1:55 p.m. when the Portland tide gauge was 4.8 ft MLLW about two hours after low tide on 11-11-09 by S. M. Dickson. The lowest spit elevation may be about 10 to 11 feet Mean Lower Low Water and showing 5 feet of relief above the river level at the time the photo was taken. The river channel is a few feet deeper than MLLW in some locations. Interpretation by S. M. Dickson, MGS.
