The Division of Parks and Public Lands has adopted a 15-year management plan for parks and lands in the Western Mountains Region of Maine.

Public Scoping Meetings were held:

January 28, 2010 at the Rumford Town Hall

February 4, 2010 at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School

An advisory committee was formed

The advisory committee is made up of individuals who know the resources of the area or can provide specific guidance on the needs and desires of certain user groups.

The first advisory committee meeting was held from 1pm to 4pm on March 25, 2010 at the University of Maine in Farmington Olsen Student Center, North Dining Hall Rm B.

A second advisory committee meeting was held Sept 7, 2010 at the University of Maine, Farmington to receive feedback on the first draft of the Plan.

A focus meeting on trails in Grafton and Mahoosuc was held on October 14, 2010 from 1pm to 3pm at the Newry Town Office.

A Public Meeting on the final draft of the plan was held December 14, 2010 from 5:30 to 8pm at the University of Maine Farmington Thomas Auditorium. Additionally, a written comment period was held from November 20 to December 24, 2010.
