Maine State Park Campground Reservations - 2010
The reservations staff, at the Bureau of Parks and Lands, is here to help you plan what we hope will be your best vacation ever in Maine’s State Parks. There are many convenient ways to make camping reservations for 2010. Please understand that during peak periods, the Call Center telephone lines are extremely busy.
Each year, we review the current reservation system with a goal of improvement, more accessibility, and equity in mind. We will begin the 2010 campground reservation season with a brand new program! It is intended to be fast, reliable, and user-friendly, and we expect the transition to be smooth.
Make your reservation as early in the season as possible, in order to secure a site. To make a reservation:
-
NEW FOR 2010 – Beginning February 1, 2010, at 9AM, we will ONLY be accepting and processing Sebago’s campground reservations. On February 8, 2010, at 9AM, we will accept reservations for all 12 parks. This new procedure will assist with the congestion to our campground reservations system on opening day and is in effect for the website, the call center, mail-in, and all drop-off reservations.
-
The internet/website will officially open on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 9:00 A.M., and be available 24/7 for the camping season, May 24 to September 12, 2010. Beginning September 13, 2010, all campsites become first-come/first-serve and off-season rates apply. Please call the park directly for official closing dates and fees.
-
The Call Center will open on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 9:00 A.M. and for the remainder of the season will be open Monday – Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. - closed on holidays and designated state shutdown days. Please call: 800-332-1501 in Maine and 207-624-9950 for all others. The Call Center will officially close on Friday, September 10, 2010.
-
Mail-in reservations must not be postmarked earlier than February 1, 2010; all others must be post marked February 8, 2010. A minimum of 4-nights, during the month of February, is required for Sebago Lake reservations. Beginning Monday, March 1, 2010, we will accept Sebago Lake reservations for less than 4 nights. For mail-in reservations, the address is: Department of Conservation, ATTN: Campground Reservations, 22 SHS, 18 Elkins Lane, Augusta, ME 04333.
-
NEW CANCELLATION POLICY FOR 2010 – All canceled/partial canceled reservations will be subject to a processing fee. We will keep the $2 per night reservation fee from each reservation that is canceled or partially canceled. For example: If you cancel a 14-night reservation, the State of Maine will keep a fee of $28 ($2 x 14 nights) and the rest will be credited back to your credit card. There will no longer be a $15 processing fee for canceled reservations. You must call the Campground Reservation Office or the park before the night of your arrival in order to be eligible for a refund. There are no refunds for: NO CALLS, NO SHOWS, and EVICTED campers.
-
AGAIN FOR 2010 – In February, all walk in customers will be required to fill out forms, enclose appropriate payment, and drop off reservation requests. Computers will not be available for immediate confirmation. You may drop off Sebago campground reservations ONLY beginning February 1, 2010, at 9AM. All others may be dropped off beginning February 8, 2010 at 9AM. Staff will process the reservations in the order they are received throughout the business day and week. If you have access to the Web at home, work, or elsewhere, we suggest you use it to save time. If you are paying in cash, you must walk in and use the drop off method. If you walk in beginning March 1 through September 10, 2010, you can use the Augusta Call Center courtesy telephone to request a reservation.
-
The reservation system will accept reservations for the maximum of 14-nights per park by telephone or Internet.
-
IMPORTANT – please remember that all campsites must be set up by 10PM to observe Quiet Time. Generator use hours are 9AM – 7PM.
-
PARK UPDATES FOR 2010 – Thanks to the 2007 State Parks Bond, new family-unit shower buildings with dishwashing stations and associated utilities were completed at Rangeley Lake, Lake St. George and Peaks-Kenny State Parks. Handicapped access will be greatly enhanced at those locations. Also, wireless Internet campsites (1-63 and 103-107) are available at Camden Hills State Park Campground, and two new group campsites can be reserved at Cobscook Bay State Park
I will continue to update this website with information regarding the new program with tips and helpful information so please check in as often as necessary as we approach the 2010 opening day.
This will be our fourth season with a real-time internet reservation system. Campers who wish to make reservations for popular campsites are encouraged to utilize this process. Your reservation will be processed immediately, at any time of the day, and you can print your permit from home.
Please be sure to review all of the Bureau of Parks and Lands rules, regulations, and policies before making your campground reservation. As always, we are dedicated to providing quality service to our camping customers, and hope the improvements we make each season add to your state park experience.
We look forward to your visit to Maine State Parks this season.
