Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
Sophmores attending a Maine public high school may participate in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during the 2014-15 school year in an effort to help prepare them for the SAT. The 2014 PSAT/NMSQT will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 15. As in the past, the Maine Department of Education will fund this assessment however, it will no longer be required for all sophmores.
Scores from PSAT/NMSQT are not reported for accountability purposes. PSAT/NMSQT results may be used to provide diagnostic information about student learning and to inform instruction in reading, writing and mathematics.
