On behalf of the State of Maine Gambling Control Board I want to welcome you to our website.  The board was established in 2004 in order to establish the regulatory process as it related to the slot machine facilities that were approved by the voters of Maine.  The enabling legislation allowed two facilities but only one was approved on the local level and in November of 2005 Hollywood Slots opened the doors of its temporary facility in Bangor, Maine.  Since the first days of gambling in Maine the citizens have entrusted the Gambling Control Board with making sure that the rules are clear and are followed, therefore providing a safe and fair gambling environment for those that choose to participate.

In 2010 the citizens of Maine once again voted to expand gambling in Maine and allow a casino in Oxford County.  The Gambling Control Board will work diligently to make sure that the proper regulations are in place so that those that visit the new facility can feel assured that they are being protected.  The Board feels that it is their charge to make sure people living in and visiting Maine can enjoy their gambling experience knowing that the Board is looking out for their best interest.

Thank you for visiting our website and I hope you check back often to see the progress that is being made as we move forward in providing the regulatory structure for the gambling industry in Maine.
