SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium

NECAP

Maine has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects, and is making a gradual transition in instruction and accountability systems.

Maine is a governing member of the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), a multi-state collaborative working to develop an assessment system aligned to the Common Core State Standards.  Stay informed about timely developments by checking the SBAC website – frequently!

Current state accountability standards for reading and writing assessment in Grades 3-8 and 11. Maine will continue participating in NECAP through the 2013-14 school year.
