Key for reading the MEA school results for the 1998-99 school year

 

Subjects:

• R = Reading
• W = Writing
• M = Mathematics
• C = Science and Technology
• S = Social Studies
• V = Visual and Performing Arts
• H = Health Education

 

Performance Levels display the percent of students scoring at each level:

• Exceeds the Standards
• Meets the Standards
• Partially Meets the Standards
• Does Not Meet the Standards

 

Average Scale Score:  Describes average school performance on a scale from 501 to 580.  The scale score reflects the quality of the performance described in the four performance levels:

• Exceeds the Standards (561 – 580)
• Meets the Standards (541 – 560)
• Partially Meets the Standards (521 – 540)
• Does Not Meet the Standards (501 – 520)

 

Special Notes:

1. Schools with fewer than five students taking any sub-test are not reported for reasons of individual student confidentiality.
2. Schools with small populations of students are likely to show variability in scores from year to year based on differences in the composition of the class, e.g. more males than females in a class.
3. The Viola Rand School in Bradley – Except for the writing sample, the student tests were lost in shipping, so no test results are available.

• Column 3 -             RTES = number of students tested in reading
• Column 4 -             REXC = % of students exceeding standards
• Column 5 -             RMEE = % of students meeting standards
• Column 6 -            RPAR = % of students partially meeting standards
• Column 7 -            RNOT = % of students not meeting standards
• Column 8 -             RAVG = school’s average scale score for reading

 

• Column 9 -             WTES = number of students tested in writing
• Column 10 -             WEXC = % of students exceeding standards
• Column 11 -             WMEE = % of students meeting standards
• Column 12 -            WPAR = % of students partially meeting standards
• Column 13 -            WNOT = % of students not meeting standards
• Column 14 -             WAVG = school’s average scale score for writing

 

• Column 15 -             MTES = number of students tested mathematics
• Column 16 -             MEXC = % of students exceeding standards
• Column 17 -             MMEE = % of students meeting standards
• Column 18 -            MPAR = % of students partially meeting standards
• Column 19 -            MNOT = % of students not meeting standards
