Maine Warden Service Locates Missing Snowmobiler

Augusta - The Maine Warden Service located a missing snowmobiler today who was reported missing seven hours after leaving a camp following an alleged fight with fellow campers.

Bill Laturneau, 64, of Oxford, left the camp near Greenwood on snowmobile at approximately 1 a.m. today but was not reported missing until 8 a.m. The only winter attire he was wearing was snowmobile pants; he did not have boots or a jacket on, according to Sgt. Tim Place of the Maine Warden Service.

Maine Warden Service Pilot Dan Dufault located Mr. Laturneau from the air at approximately 10 a.m. on a power line trail (Pat’s Mountain Trail) in Greenwood approximately two miles from the camp. Mr. Laturneau’s had rolled his snowmobile, and he was sitting on top of it when he was spotted.

Game Wardens went to the location and helped Mr. Laturneau off the trail. He was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he was being evaluated for possible hypothermia.
