March 26, 2009 Body of Male Teenager Located in Hampden Augusta, Maine - The body of a male teen missing was located at approximately 1:45 p.m. today near a gravel pit on back Winterport Road in Hampden. The body has not been identified at this time. There has been an extensive search in recent day the area for Nathan Clark, 17, of Hampden, who was reported missing by his father on Sunday. The Hampden Police Department began an extensive search with the assistance of the Maine Warden Service, the Hampden Police Department, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, and LifeFlight. Sunday’s search was the first of three efforts to locate the missing teen, who on Monday was considered to be a runaway. On Monday, Game Wardens from the Maine Warden Service used snowmobiles and an aircraft to search for Mr. Clark. Because Mr. Clark had not been seen by friends or family in the following days, the Hampden Police Department formally asked the Maine Warden Service to bring in resources to conduct another search today. The male teen was located at approximately 1:45 p.m. by Game Warden Roger Guay and his K-9 Maggie. In addition to Warden Guay, several Game Wardens, the Maine State Police and search dog teams from Maine Search and Rescue Dogs (MESARD) were out in the woods looking for the teen. According to Sgt. Daniel Stewart of the Hampden Police Department, the Maine State Police is processing the area where the male teen was located “as a crime scene.” The incident is under investigation. A representative from the Office of the Medical Examiner is en route. |
