Maine Warden Service Locates Vehicle of Missing Auburn Man; Search Underway

Augusta, Maine - The Maine Warden Service is searching for a 77-year-old Auburn man whose Toyota Rav 4 was located at approximately 1 p.m. today by a Maine Warden Service pilot and crew near Spencer Bay, which is west of Kokadjo.

The man’s family has been notified that his truck was located.

Approximately 20 Game Wardens, on ATVs and in two airplanes, as well as teams from the Maine Search and Rescue Dogs are looking in the area for the missing man.

William Young, 77, was last seen at approximately 9:24 a.m. on Monday, April 13, driving by Walton School in Auburn in his 1997 mint green Toyota Rav 4 with a Maine veterans license plate.

Mr. Young is 5’ 9” tall, 190 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing dark gray pants, light green shirt, light green coat, black sneakers, and a tan ball cap.

According to a press release from the Auburn Police Department, Mr. Young is in the late stages of dementia.

Snow has melted in the Greenville/Kokadjo area, and any tracks that Mr. Young may have left when he exited his vehicle are virtually non-existent, according to MWS Lt. Pat Dorian.

The Maine Warden Service is looking for any information that could assist in its search, particularly if anyone has seen Mr. Young from Auburn to Greenville and from Greenville to the Kokadjo area.
