Woman, 5-Year-Old Seriously Injured in ATV Incident

Augusta, Maine - A 27-year-old Island Falls woman and a 5-year-old boy were seriously injured in an ATV incident before 7 tonight (Sunday July 19) on an old logging road in Township 3, Range 4.

Both were taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Janelle Grant, 27, of Island Falls and her 5-year-old passenger were on one ATV out riding with two men, one woman and two childern on three other ATVs.

Ms. Grant hit a washout on the road, rolling the ATV. She suffered a compound fracture to her right arm. The boy suffered head injuries.

The incident is under investigation by Game Warden Scott Martin, according to Maine Warden Service Sgt. Tom Ward.
