Missing 19-year-old Clammer Found Deceased

Augusta, Maine - A 19-year-old man from the Waldoboro area was found deceased at approximately 4 p.m. today (July 25) after separating from a friend on Friday morning (July 24).

Ian Sanborn, 19, of the Waldoboro area had finished clamming with the friend, a juvenile, in Broad Cove, and had told his friend that he wanted to rest before leaving the area. The juvenile said he left the scene.

Mr. Sanborn was reported missing to the Maine Warden Service at noon today after family members had not heard from him.

Mr. Sanborn was located at 4 p.m. today by Marine Patrol Pilot Steve Ingram. He was found a short distance from where he was clamming with his friend, in an area in Broad Cove that locals call Bug-Tussle.

According to Maine Warden Service Sgt. Mark Warren, the Medical Examiner's Office will examine Mr. Sanborn on Sunday.

The incident is under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.
