Morrill Teen Seriously Injured in ATV Incident

An 18-year-old Morrill teen was seriously injured this evening when he hit a fallen tree with his left leg while riding an ATV in Montville.

Ryan Jackson, 18, of Morrill was riding alone on a roadway in the Frye Mountain Wildlife Management Area in Montville when he came upon a tree that had fallen in the road. Mr. Jackson hit the tree with his left leg, and suffered a severe injury on his upper left thigh. He was transported by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Mr. Jackson was wearing a helmet, according to Game Warden Mark Thompson.

Mr. Jackson used his cell phone to call his family, who in turn contacted emergency services for help.

The incident is under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.

Morrill and Montville fire departments, Liberty Ambulance, and the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
