April 5, 2010 Two Seriously Injured in ATV Incident Augusta, Maine - Two people suffered serious injuries early this morning when they hit a tree with an ATV. Ben Chapman, 20, of Lebanon, and Carly Hartnett, 19, of Lebanon were transported to Goodall Hospital in Sanford where they are in stable condition. The two individuals were with friends watching the Boston Red Sox game, according to Maine Warden Service Warden John Lonergan. Chapman and Hartnett left the Chapman residence on Dolby Drive on a Grizzly 4-wheeler, set out on a camp road to West Shore Drive, and hit a tree where the road intersects with TM Wentworth Road. Lebanon Rescue received the emergency call at 1:10 a.m., and the Maine State Police and Maine Warden Service also were called. Neither Chapman nor Hartnett were wearing a helmet. The incident is under investigation by the Maine Warden Service. |
