Sidney Man Dies After Dirt Bike Incident

Augusta, Maine - A 34-year-old Sidney man died this evening from injuries he suffered when he hit a tree while driving a dirt bike.

Shannon Post, 34, of Sidney was driving a Kawasaki 250 dirt bike at approximately 12:15 p.m. today (July 5) on an ATV trail off Scenic Drive West in Augusta when he hit a tree. Mr. Post was wearing a helmet, chest protector and waist/kidney protector.

Two bikers were traveling with him.

Mr. Post was assisted by Sidney and Belgrade Fire and Rescues and transported to Maine General Hospital, and was being evaluated for hip, rib and other injuries. He died this evening.

The incident is under investigation. Wardens Gary Allen and Steve Allarie responded.
