Two Snowmobilers Critically Injured in Snowmobile Collision

Augusta, Maine - Two men snowmobiling tonight collided when one sledder went back on the route to check on the status of the other.

The incident occurred after 7 p.m. today (Feb. 17) on Middle Range Pond in Poland.

Robert Bissonette, 35, of Auburn and Jared Murphy, 20, of Poland had gone to dinner with two others at an area restaurant. When they left on their snowmobiles, they got separated.

Mr. Murphy went back to check on the whereabouts of Mr. Bissonette, and the two coillided.

Both were transported by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

A witness told Game Wardens that he believed at least one of the snowmobilers was speeding.

The Maine Warden Service is on the scene with other emergency services personnel.

Ths incident is under investigation.
