Freeport Man Critically Injured in ATV Incident

Augusta, Maine - Gregory Thompson, 48, of Wardtown Road in Freeport, was critically injured when riding his Arctic Cat 700 four wheeler in his driveway after 6 p.m. today.

An ATV belonging to Greg Thompson, 48, of Freeport sits on a driveway as Freeport Fire and Rescue bring Mr. Thompson to an awaiting LifeFlight helicopter tonight (March 14).

According to Warden Rick Stone, Mr. Thompson’s wife, Robin, told responding officers that she looked out her window and saw her husband flying through the air and the ATV rolling over in the driveway. He landed face down.

Mr. Thompson was not wearing a helmet.

Freeport Fire and Rescue gave medical assistance, and LifeFlight transported Mr. Thompson to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Freeport Police Officer Cheryl Dupuis responded to the scene, as did Warden Stone. Warden Robert Decker responded to the hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
