Cora Marley's Body Recovered This Morning

Fairfield, Maine - The body of Cora Marley, age 62, of Skowhegan was located this morning by dam workers at the Shawmut Hydro Dam spanning the Kennebec in Fairfield. Marley went missing Saturday night when her vehicle left Route 201 and crashed into Martin Stream in Fairfield. Fairfield Police Department, the Maine State Police Dive Team and the Maine Warden Service Dive Team conducted a three day search for Marley in the area of the confluence of Martin Stream and the Kennebec River. Search efforts by Maine Warden Service aircraft and watercraft continued after dive operations were suspended.

At approximately 7:00 AM this morning, a dam worker spotted Marley’s body near the grates of the dam. Shawmut Dam is approximately four miles downstream from the scene of the crash. Fairfield PD, Fairfield Fire & Rescue, and several Maine Game Wardens responded to the dam and recovered Marley. She has been transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
