Boater Recovered

West Grand Lake, Maine - At approximately noon today, game wardens recovered the body of a boater from West Grand Lake. Vincent J. Bartolomeo, age 65, was recovered in 28 feet of water. Bartolomeo was ejected and went below the surface of the water as a result of the crash; he was not wearing a lifejacket. He had residences in both Old Orchard Beach and Concord, Massachusetts. The operator of the second boat was Richard Albano, age 74, of Bellerica, Massachusetts. His passenger Robert Albano is his brother. Robert is from Medford Massachusetts. The brothers have a camp in Princeton, Maine.

Yesterday at approximately 4:50 pm, Maine Game Wardens were called to investigate this two-boat crash on West Grand Lake near the town of Grand Lake Stream. Richard Albano was operating his 16 foot Lund with a 40 horsepower Honda outboard. Bartolomeo was operating his 14 foot Sea Nymph open boat with an 8 horsepower motor. The Albano’s sustained no serious injuries.

Several game wardens, the Maine Warden Service Dive Team, and a Warden Service aircraft assisted with today’s investigation and recovery. The crash remains under investigation and no further information/photos are being released at this time. The Maine Warden Service reminds everyone to wear your life jacket on all Maine waterways.
