Margaret Craven is serving her third term in the Maine Senate. She represents Senate District 16
which consists of Lewiston. Senator Craven is currently the lead on the Health and Human Services
Committee. In her first term, she served on the Appropriations Committee.
Outside of the Legislature, Senator Craven is a dedicated community activist. She has spent 12
years as a Hospice volunteer and serves on the boards of the Lewiston Public Library and Healthy
Androscoggin and is a former member of the Community Concepts Board of Directors. She also serves
as a guardian for persons with disabilities. She is especially interested in job development,
long-term care, services for persons with developmental disabilities, early childhood intervention,
and substance abuse prevention.
Senator Craven and her husband, Jim, are the parents of two grown sons, Walther Matthew and TJ,
and grandparents of Finn Joseph Craven, Declan Matthew, and Joseph Collin. Senator Craven has lived
in Lewiston for over 40 years.
