About the MaineDOT Library
The Maine DOT Library is located on the first floor of the Transportation Building, which is on Child Street in Augusta.
Over 12,000 books and documents, 400+ videotapes, CDs, DVDs, and audiocassettes, and numerous periodicals.
Located in the library are materials on almost every aspect of transportation, including design, construction, environmental issues, transportation policy, alternative and public transportation, archaeology and historic preservation, and transportation history. There are many FHWA documents, AASHTO publications, Maine DOT research and other publications, and a nearly complete collection of Highway Research Board/Transportation Research Board reports and syntheses, and Strategic Highway Research Program reports. In addition, the library has a collection of materials on TQM, management, leadership and mentoring, computer skills, and English writing and usage. A complete set of Maine Revised Statutes Annotated is maintained in the library.
Literature searches are available, using many different resources, including TRID, a database maintained by the Transportation Research Board; and interlibrary loan, which allows the use of materials not available in this library. The library is open to MaineDOT employees, consultants, other state employees, and the public.
