Both courses will be delivered by certified instructors from MARS pet care.
These programs have been designed to educate people who will be involved in animal rescue and sheltering in the event of a disaster. Animal emergency response is a complex rescue and sheltering field that requires specific skills and expertise. This course is designed to be a basic introduction to the components of animal emergency response, and not a step-by-step resource guide for rescue and sheltering.
They will educate people who will be involved in the logistical and operational stages of an animal emergency shelter in the event of a disaster. The manual is designed to be a resource guide, so it is divided into sections with the necessary steps — from choosing the location for the shelter to daily care procedures.
Lunch and breaks will be provided; lodging is available upon qualification please contact MEMA training for prior approval. Mileage may be reimbursed for CART/SMART members, carpooling is encouraged. All other expenses the responsibility of the student.
