Workshop Title:

Communications Unit Planning Workshop, the workshop delivery is provided by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Emergency Communications Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance program support team.

Workshop Date/Location:

This one day workshop is scheduled for May 23, 2013 at the Manchester Fire Department. The workshop will begin at 8:00 am and conclude by 4:30 pm.

Workshop Description:

This workshop provides attendees with tools and best practices to develop a strategic plan to implement State, local and regional level initiatives to improve policies and procedures for managing Communications Unit assets and on-going development of ICS Communications Unit personnel. Objectives of the strategic plan include; maintaining an inventory of Communications Unit assets, providing training and exercise opportunities that support completion of the COMU Position Task Books (PTB), and deploying COMU assets during all- hazards situations.

Topics covered include: - Key Performance Measures of a COMU Program - Development of Vision, Mission and Guiding - Methods to track and report Communications Unit assets - Opportunities to provide training and exercises that develops trainee qualifications and encourage PTB completion - Deployment procedures and policies for COMU assets - Communication Unit Leader (COML) program - COML discussion on direction, involvement, clarification and concerns

Target Audience:
