MEMA Hosts Delegation from Montenegro

June 25, 2010

Emergency Management, Military, and Emergency Services representatives from the eastern European country of Montenegro were guests of the Maine Emergency Management Agency this week.

During the week, MEMA conducted morning workshops in incident command, public information, and other emergency management topics. In the afternoons, the international partners rode with Augusta Fire Department and Department of Conservation, and participated with events with the Maine Army National Guard and American Red Cross.

The week's formal events ended with a demonstration of field medical operations by Maine Task Force One, Metropolitan Medical Response System.

These activities were in conjunction with the Maine National Guard’s partnership with Montenegro brought about through the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program. The State Partnership Program pairs foreign governments with states to improve military and civilian relations. This agreement has expanded in Maine to include emergency management and response as well as military matters.

Pictures of the delegation's visit and activities may be found on MEMA's page on Facebook.
