New Training Announcement:Communications Unit Leader (Train the Trainer)

Course Description:

Through the Office of Emergency Communications/Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (OEC/ICTAP), the All-Hazards Communications Unit Leader Train the Trainer (COML TtT) Course is available to provide U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) approved, National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant COML instructor training to ensure that every state and territory has trained instructors capable of instructing the COML course. Having state and territory qualified instructors will allow a self sustaining process for trained COMLs to manage and coordinate on-scene communications during multi-jurisdictional responses and planned events.

The COML TtT course is designed to provide designated trainers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively teach the COML course in their state, territory and/or jurisdiction.

The course consists of lecture/discussion and small group activities, with individual presentations. Participants will apply proven instructional methodologies and sound administrative procedures when delivering the COML TtT Course.

Effective and standardized instructor methodology for teaching the COML course.

An understanding of the information necessary to instruct the COML course in accordance with approved guidelines.

Target Audience:

The COML TtT Course is targeted for all local, regional, state and federal cross disciplinary emergency response professionals with instructional and communication skills background. Instructor candidates must be recommended by their Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) or State Administrative Agency (SAA). Certain prerequisites do apply, call for additional information.

Course Location:

The course will be held in the MEMA classroom at CMCC. Central Maine Commerce Center is located on Commerce Drive off Route 27 in North Augusta. Class will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch and breaks will be provided. Backfill/Overtime for NIMS compliant agencies and communities as well as lodging are available. Contact MEMA training for details. All other expenses are the responsibility of the student.
