Androscoggin CERT in Action
August 4, 2010
Members from the Androscoggin CERT participated in Auburn Police Department’s National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 3. The event was held at Auburn’s Festival Plaza. This national event started at 5:30 PM and lasted until dark. The CERT displayed many preparedness items at their booth to include a pre-made preparedness kit, safety pamphlets, coloring books for children, and several members on hand to talk about preparedness to the community members who stopped by to visit their display. The Androscoggin County Animal Response Team, Androscoggin Amateur Radio Club, and Androscoggin County Community Emergency Response Team (all of which are part of CERT) participated and were displayed at this event. The park was filled with people until the event closed upon nightfall. Auburn Police/Fire/EMS, United Ambulance, and American Red Cross were amongst some of the other participants in this event. The CERT’s participation demonstrates their dedication in ensuring their community is prepared in the event of a disaster. For more information on how to get involved in a CERT, contact your County EMA Director.
