FEMA Releases IS-265: Basic Instructional Skills Course

IS-265 - Basic Instructional SkillsFEMA has released a new online, independent study course designed for emergency managers who assist in teaching FEMA courses. MEMA also recommends this course for any emergency manager who may need to make public presentations. Course DescriptionThe purpose of this 90-minute course is to prepare the participant to assist with State-delivered emergency management training. This course provides a foundation from which participants can develop or enhance their instructional delivery skills within a classroom setting. This course is not designed to teach how to design training. Rather, the focus of this course is how to present an existing lesson plan or training materials. Course ObjectivesUpon completing this course, the participant will be able to:
Primary AudienceMembers of Federal, State, tribal, or local training teams. Recommended for members of state and local emergency management teams who assist in the teaching of FEMA- or state-developed classroom training. PrerequisitesNone Course LengthThe overall length of the course will vary for each individual. IS-265 takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. CEUsEMI awards 0.2 CEUs for completion of this course. IS-265: Basic Instructional Skills is available online from FEMA's Emergency Management Institute.
