National Weather Service Posting Tornado Watches and Warnings in Maine Today
National Weather Service Posting Tornado Watches and Warnings in Maine Today
June 1, 20115:30 PM
As severe storms move through Maine, the National Weather Service has posted Tornado Watches in many parts of Maine. To alert the public to the threat of tornadoes, the National Weather Service issues TORNADO WATCHES and WARNINGS. A TORNADO WATCH indicates that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes. A TORNADO WARNING indicates that a tornado is imminent or is already occurring. If you hear that a TORNADO WARNING has been issued for your area, seek safe shelter immediately if you are in the path of the storm. MEMA advises everyone to pay close attention to National Weather Service information through this evening. Current weather watches and warnings are posted on our Maine Prepares website. You will also find Tornado facts and safety tips.
