Registration Open for 2011 CERT JamboreeRegister today for the 2011 CERT Jamboree
August 3, 2011
The 5th Annual Community Emergency response Team (CERT) Jamboree training weekend will be held September 10th and 11th at Camp Laurel in Mount Vernon. Registration forms should be submitted to participants' County EMA offices and must be received no later than close of business Friday, August 26. This is a unique two-day learning experience with County and Town CERT, County Animal Response(CART), Search and Rescue (SAR), and emergency communications (ARES/EMCOMM) teams. The CERT Jamboree is a fantastic opportunity for team members to improve their skills, share ideas and have fun. Courses will include basic CERT Training, Wilderness First Aid, Communications, Small and Large Animal Handling, Low Angle Rope Rescue, Pet First Aid and much more. New participants who meet all the requirements of the Basic CERT Training will receive certificates and CERT backpacks at the end of the weekend. The FCC's amateur radio license exam will be administered for those who have completed the required training. CERT Teams are groups of trained volunteers who support emergency managers and first responders across the State of Maine. The CERT Program and the Jamboree are supported by FEMA funds administered by the Maine Emergency Management Agency. Maine's CERT volunteers devote thousands of hours to training and responding every year. The planning and organizing for the Jamboree is a year-round effort by County Emergency Management Agencies and CERT members statewide. The registration form for the CERT Jamboree, training schedule, and information about Camp Laurel is available from the Oxford County EMA website.
