New Training Announcement: Incident Command Systems Train the Trainer Course (L449)

INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEMS TRAIN THE TRAINER (L449)June 11-15, 2012The Maine Emergency Management Agency will be conducting a training on the Incident Command System Train the Trainer Course. This course is intended to prepare participants to deliver FEMA’s ICS 100, 200, 300, 400 and 402 courses and the G191. Participants will not be teaching ICS in this course, rather they will demonstrate their instructional capabilities and their ability to construct and deliver a short-notice informational presentation. These unit level presentations will focus on three primary elements: -Most critical teaching points of the lesson/unit -Potential questions and/or discussion points that the students may have -Suggestions for enhancing and tailoring the lesson/unit to the audience. All participants should have verifiable experience in adult education / instruction. Participants who have a working knowledge of ICS through experience and training, and have experience delivering adult training. Participants must have worked as IC, command or general staff positions on incidents, planned events or exercises that were active for multiple operational periods or involved a written action plan and involved multiagency coordination. Nationally certified instructors from FEMA will conduct the program. This program is limited to 20 students so applications will be screened Prerequisite-Have a working knowledge of ICS through experience and training,and have experience delivering adult training. -Complete all course pre-requisites: Required-ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, and IS-800. NOTE: Participants must have taken the Emergency Management Institute, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Fire Academy, or National Wildfire Coordinating Group ICS courses. Other ICS courses must be consistent with the ICS objectives prescribed by the NIMS Integration Center. -Participants must have worked as IC, command or general staff positions on incidents, planned events or exercises that went longer than one operational period or involved a written action plan and involved multiagency coordination. Those course participants who have not completed the course requirements will not be allowed to attend the course. Please include a copy of the certificate of completion of the prerequisite with application. Course Location:The course will be held in the MEMA classroom at CMCC. The Central Maine Commerce Center is located on Commerce Drive off Route 27 in North Augusta. Classes will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Lunch and breaks will be provided, lodging is available on a per case basis, call MEMA for information. All other expenses are the responsibility of the student.
