Application Period Open for 2008 Homeland Security Grant Program

Grant availability has been announced for FY 2008 Homeland Security Grants in Maine. Eligible applicants are city and county governments, and associated public facilities.

For 2008, based on State and Federal Homeland Security prioties, grant application criteria are focused on:

  • All-hazards emergency planning;
  • Interoperable communications;
  • Shelter and recovery operations;
  • Training and exercise;
  • Public education and awareness;
  • NIMS compliancy measures; and
  • School district emergency planning

A total of $2.286 million is available for allocation under the competitive process.

Applications must be submitted to County EMA offices no later than the Close of Business on Friday, November 21, 2008. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered for funding.
