Hazard Mitigation Grant Application Period Re-Opened

MEMA has announced a supplemental application period for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds. An initial application period which closed January 31st has left approximately $1 million remaining available for eligible projects. The deadline for application for these funds is April 18, 2008, 5:00 pm.

The funds were made available to Maine communities following last year's Patriot's Day Storm in April and the Oxford County storm in July.

Communities which submitted applications by the January 31st deadline will receive notification of their standing shortly, and should not need to re-apply.

Technical assistance in developing applications is available to communities in several ways. The application and instruction materials are available on the MEMA website or through email. Many questions can be answered by phone at (800) 452-8735.

One on one consultations for application assistance can also be arranged. MEMA recommends that these requests be made promptly so that consultations can be scheduled well in advance of the April 18th deadline.
