School Security Funding Opportunity for School Administrative Units

The Maine Emergency Management Agency is announcing a funding opportunity for School Administrative Units (SAUs) to participate in a targeted, school preparedness facility security grant program. This is a short fused opportunity. Grant applications must be received by April 12, 2013, and projects must be completed by July 31, 2013. Specifically this grant will allow SAUs to seek grants to purchase and install the following items (listed in order of priority, statewide):
Requirements and Due Dates:In order to be eligible for consideration for grant funding, all applicants must meet National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements for key school personnel. All applications must be submitted to the Maine Emergency Management Agency no later than Close of Business (5 p.m.) on Friday April 12, 2013. Applications should be emailed to HSGrants.Maine@maine.gov. If email is not an option, applications may be mailed to 45 Commerce Drive, Suite 2, Augusta, ME 04333, Attn: FY2010 HSGP School Applications c/o Deborah Sullivan-Alley. However, all applications must arrive at MEMA no later than Friday, April 12, 2013. MEMA encourages all applicants to work with their County EMA office) to ensure applications are consistent with the instructions in this application. For those projects that receive approval and grant funding, all grant funds must be expended by July 31, 2013. The three documents identified below will guide SAU superintendents through the application process.
