Second Annual CERT Jamboree Set for September
June 25, 2008
From September 12 through 14, members of Community Emergency Response Teams from across the state will gather at the Bog Brook Training facility in Gilead, Maine for the Second Annual CERT Jamboree. Hosted by the Oxford County Emergency Management Agency together with MEMA, the Jamboree will bring volunteers together for training and team building. Courses will include Basic CERT 20-hour, required course for CERT members), human and pet first aid, sheltering, search and rescue and a ropes course. A complete agenda is available here. The Jamboree is free of charge. Attendees must be part of a County CERT to attend. To join a CERT or learn more, contact your County Emergency Management Agency. Jamboree Contact: What is a CERT? Community Emergency Response Teams help people immediately after a disaster and assist emergency responders whenever needed. In Maine there are 24 all-volunteer CERT teams specializing in disaster assistance, ham radio operations, traffic control, emergency sheltering for humans and their pets, search and rescue, and more.
