Knox EMA Prepares for Lobster Festival

July 16, 2009

On July 15, 2009, a tabletop exercise took place at the Knox County Emergency Management Office. Several agencies gathered to go over the Emergency Management Plan for the 2009 Rockland Lobsted Festival. After going over the plan, a tabletop exercise was conducted.

The tabletop was designed by Knox County EMA and involved a severe lightning storm approaching the area with crowds of people at the lobster festival. As a result, responding agencies responded in accordance with the revised Emergency Management Plan. Several photos have been uploaded to MEMA's page on Facebook.

Some changes were made to the plan as a result of the exercise. It was made very clear that in the event of an approaching storm, the incident command system and public information are very important to protect the citizens at the lobster festival.

For more information on exercising your plan, contact your County Emergency Management Agency or Maine Emergency Management Agency.
